چکیده

This paper describes an improved approach for (a) the estimation of the mean expected hourly global solar radiation I(h;nj), for any hour h of a day nj of the year, at any site, and (b) the estimation of stochastically fluctuating I(h;nj) values, based on only one morning measurement of a day. Predicted mean expected values are compared, on one hand with recorded data for the period of 1995–2000 and, on the other, with results obtained by the METEONORM package, for the region of Patra, Greece. The stochastically predicted values for the 17th January and 17th July are compared with the recorded data and the corresponding values predicted by the METEONORM package. The proposed model provides I(h;nj) predictions very close to the measurements and offers itself as a promising tool both for the on-line daily management of solar power sources and loads, and for a cost effective PV sizing approach. r 2006 Elsevier Ltd. A two-stage stochastic programming model for the optimal sizing of hybrid PV/diesel/battery in hybrid electric ship system

Ships play the major role in bulk transportation and they need their special energy system. This paper proposes a stochastic programing method for optimal sizing of a hybrid ship power system with energy storage system (ESS), photovoltaic power (PV) and diesel generator. To account for uncertainties, in this study a two-stage stochastic mixed-integer non-linear programing is used to model the o...

Global Solar Radiation Prediction using Artificial Neural Network Models for New Zealand

In this study, nonlinear autoregressive recurrent neural networks with exogenous input (NARX) were used to predict global solar radiation across New Zealand. Data for nine hourly weather variables recorded across New Zealand from January 2006 to December 2012 were used to create, train and test Artificial Neural Network (ANN) models using the Levenberg−Marquardt (LM) training algorithm, with gl...

Solar ultraviolet-B radiation monitoring in Khorram Abad city in Iran

Background: The increasing evidences show that global depletion of stratospheric ozone layer is caused by pollutant and growing incidence of the skin cancer and cataract is related to the amounts of solar UV radiation reaching the earth ׳s surface. Therefore, the main driving force behind such efforts has been the lack of an appropriate network in scope monitoring of the terrestrial UV...

Estimating and modeling monthly mean daily global solar radiation on horizontal surfaces using artificial neural networks

In this study, an artificial neural network based model for prediction of solar energy potential in Kerman province in Iran has been developed. Meteorological data of 12 cities for period of 17 years (1997–2013) and solar radiation for five cities around and inside Kerman province from the Iranian Meteorological Office data center were used for the training and testing the network. Meteorologic...

Using MATLAB to Develop Artificial Neural Network Models for Predicting Global Solar Radiation in Al Ain City – UAE

Information about the availability of solar radiation on horizontal surface is essential for the optimum design and study of solar energy systems. For a country like UAE, the efficient application of solar energy seems inevitable because of abundant sunshine available throughout the year. The traditional way of knowing the amount of global solar radiation (GSR) in a particular region is to inst...
